Lee Becknell
Reverend Becknell was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and was raised most of his early life in Sandy Springs, a suburb of Atlanta. In 1979 he graduated from Baptist University of America with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology. In 1984 he graduated from Bryan College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. May of 1989, he graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree. May, of 1994, he graduated from Emory University with a Master of Theology in Ethics. In 1996-2004, Reverend Becknell became the Senior Pastor at Poolesville Baptist Church, Poolesville, Maryland. Through his leadership, he led Poolesville Baptist successfully through a transition from a small country church to a vibrant community centered congregation. After 911, (2005), he was recalled to active duty and sent with the United States Marines to Iraq. He served with the Marines until his retirement in 2008. Upon his return he was employed by Montgomery County Police Department. MCPD was interested in his crisis counseling skills and training in ethics, providing ministry to Police officers, their families and victims of violent crime. Throughout this time, he and his family worshiped and served the Lord at FBCR. In 2014, he became the Interim pastor and in 2016 was called to be the senior pastor at FBCR. He is married to the former Lynn Yarbray of Atlanta Georgia (44 years). They have two daughters, Carilee, and Katie. His Son In-law is Michael Friend and grandsons, Ryan, Kyle and Ayden.
